Italian Sports Minister Andrea Abodi recently demonstrated his passion for padel by stepping onto the court for an impromptu training session with the Spanish national team. While visiting the venue for the upcoming Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Abodi highlighted the sport’s unique ability to foster connection and expressed his strong support for the Italian team’s pursuit of a medal.
A Ministerial Rally and Support for the Azzurri
During a visit to the Parco Mediterraneo della Salinella, Minister Abodi had the chance to trade shots with some of the world’s elite padel talent, including Josè Diestro, Pol Hernandez, and Guille Collado. Under the watchful eye of Spanish national coach Juanjo Gutierrez, the minister stepped in to replace David Gala, showcasing a fluid playing style that earned him praise from the Spanish staff. Gutierrez noted that Abodi’s background in tennis was evident, remarking on his impressive ease on the court.
Following his brief session with the European champions and world runners-up, Abodi shared his enthusiasm for the sport and his observations on the venue:
