Argentine padel star Rama Valenzuela has officially returned to the winner's circle, securing his first title since recovering from an injury sustained in April. Partnering with Dani Santigosa, Valenzuela triumphed at the FIP Silver Padel Copa Utrecht 2026, marking a significant milestone in his comeback journey.
Tournament Results and Highlights
The FIP Silver event, hosted at the impressive Zomerstadion Utrecht, saw high-level competition in both the men’s and women’s brackets. Following a challenging period of recovery and a candid admission last month regarding his struggle to regain pre-injury form, Valenzuela demonstrated his resilience throughout the tournament.
The tournament outcomes were as follows:
- Men's Final: Rama Valenzuela and Dani Santigosa claimed the title by defeating Thijs Roper and Joao Maria Caiano in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5.
- Men's Semi-finals: The eventual champions earned their spot in the final by overcoming the duo of Julian Prins and Youp De Kroon with a decisive 6-4, 6-2 victory.
- Women's Final: The Belgian pair of Justine Pysson and Elyne Boeykens secured the championship trophy after a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win against Lisa Groenveld and Stephanie Weterings.
- Women's Semi-finals: Pysson and Boeykens advanced to the final match by defeating Raquel Piltcher and Christina-Styliani Ntanou in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6.
For Pysson and Boeykens, this victory marks their second title of the 2026 season, building on their previous success at the FIP Bronze Hello Padel tournament, which was also held in the Netherlands. The event in Utrecht drew a large and enthusiastic crowd, providing a vibrant atmosphere for the players as they competed for the FIP Silver honors.
Valenzuela’s victory is particularly notable given his recent comments following the Premier Padel P1 in London. At that time, the Argentine emphasized that while he had not yet reached the level he displayed prior to his April injury, he remained dedicated to daily hard work to regain his peak performance. This win in Utrecht serves as a clear indicator that his persistence is paying off on the professional circuit.
