The FIP Promises Tour has officially set a new participation record for youth padel in Asia, with 191 pairs registered for the latest event in Bandung, Indonesia. This milestone highlights the rapid expansion of the sport among the next generation of talent, positioning the tournament as the second-largest FIP Promises event of the 2026 season.
Record-Breaking Growth and Tournament Structure
The FIP Promises West Java tournament in Bandung has drawn significant interest, trailing only the season-opening event in Valencia, Spain, which saw 214 pairs compete. According to Galih Dimuntur Kartasasmita, President of the Indonesian Padel Association (PBPI), this surge in participation is a testament to the country's commitment to youth development and the strategic importance of hosting international competitions to build the future of the sport.
The competition features a comprehensive structure designed to foster young talent across various age groups. The event includes eight distinct draws running from today through Sunday, covering the following categories:
- Under 14 Boys: This category is the most heavily represented in the tournament, boasting 46 registered pairs.
- Under 16 Boys: Following closely behind the U14s, this division features 42 pairs.
- Additional Categories: The tournament hosts a total of eight draws, encompassing both boys and girls divisions ranging from Under 12 to Under 18.
This event marks the third FIP Promises tournament hosted by Indonesia this year. Beyond the immediate competition, the Bandung event serves as a vital training ground and testing opportunity for athletes preparing for the upcoming FIP Junior Asia Padel Cup. That prestigious tournament is scheduled to take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from November 7 to 14, 2026. By hosting these high-level youth events, the PBPI aims to solidify Indonesia's role as a growing hub for padel in the Asian region.
