The city of Karachi recently hosted its second FIP Promises Tour event of the year, showcasing a rising generation of padel talent from both Pakistan and Qatar. Held at the Padelverse facility, the tournament served as a key developmental milestone ahead of the inaugural CUPRA FIP Tour event scheduled to take place in Pakistan from September 28 to October 4.
Tournament Results and Winners
The competition featured four distinct boys' draws, ranging from Under 12 to Under 18. The event highlighted the growing strength of local Pakistani players alongside impressive performances from visiting Qatari athletes. Below are the champions crowned across each age category:
- Under 18 Boys: Ibrahim Aftab and Ismail Shiraz. This duo continued their dominant form in the region, successfully defending the title they originally captured in Karachi back in March.
- Under 16 Boys: Ahmed Hassan Abdulla and Essa Alkuwari. Representing Qatar, this pair secured the victory. Notably, Essa Alkuwari enters this win holding the number 3 position in the FIP Promises Asia Under 16 Ranking.
- Under 14 Boys: Nawaf Alyafei and Rida Agha. Another strong showing for the Qatari contingent, as these two players outperformed the field to take home the Under 14 title.
- Under 12 Boys: Syed Muhammad Daud Ali and Ahmed Jawad. Demonstrating the depth of local talent, this Pakistani pair claimed the top spot in the youngest age bracket of the tournament.
Following the conclusion of these successful FIP Promises events, the momentum in Karachi is set to continue. The NextGen tour is scheduled to return to the city from September 24 to 27, providing further opportunities for young athletes to compete before the professional-level CUPRA FIP Tour begins later that month.
