The FIP Promises tournament in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, concluded with a historic performance by brothers Emiliano and Bernardo Batarse, who dominated multiple age categories. The event marked the first stop of the FIP Promises season in Mexico, showcasing emerging talent across three distinct age brackets.
Tournament Results and Champions
The young Batarse brothers were the undisputed stars of the weekend, securing titles in both the Under 14 and Under 16 divisions. Meanwhile, a new partnership claimed the top spot in the Under 18 category. Here are the winners from each division:
- Under 18 Boys: The duo of Diego De La Cruz and Aaron Alvarez Montelongo took the title. In a dominant display, the pair did not drop a single set throughout the entire tournament, marking a successful FIP Promises debut for the U.S. talent De La Cruz.
- Under 16 Boys: Emiliano Batarse Lopez and Bernardo Batarse Lopez entered the draw as the number two seeds. They secured a comeback victory against the top-seeded pair, José Pablo Garza and Santiago Castro, winning the match in a super tie-break with a final score of 2-6, 7-6, 10-6.
- Under 14 Boys: Entering the competition as the number one seeds, Emiliano Batarse Lopez and Bernardo Batarse Lopez cruised to victory. The 14-year-old brothers defeated Paulo Miguel Gutierrez and Cesar Lionel De Anda in straight sets, finishing the match 6-1, 6-2.
Following this successful weekend in San Luis Potosí, the FIP Promises Tour is scheduled to return to Mexico early in November for the upcoming event in Aguascalientes.
