Great Britain’s women’s padel team is preparing for a landmark appearance at the 2026 FIP World Cup Finals in Doha, Qatar, bolstered by the return of star player Tia Norton. After successfully qualifying in Madrid last month, the squad is set to compete on the global stage from November 2-7 at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex.
The Great Britain Squad and Tournament Outlook
The return of GB number three Tia Norton from an Achilles injury marks the only roster adjustment since the team’s dominant qualification performance. The squad will be guided by former world number one and LTA International Performance Coach Iciar Montes, working in tandem with team captain Libby Fletcher. This event represents Great Britain’s first qualification for the women's FIP World Cup Finals since 2021.
The official roster representing Great Britain includes:
- Aimee Gibson (WR.91): A key member of the squad bringing high-level international experience.
- Catherine Rose (WR.93): A top-ranked player contributing to the team's depth.
- Tia Norton (WR.171): Returning to the lineup following her recovery from an Achilles injury.
- Lisa Phillips (WR.186): Part of the core group that secured qualification in Madrid.
- Laura Jackson (WR.214): A vital contributor to the team's recent international success.
- Abigail Tordoff (WR.218): Selected to represent the nation on the world stage.
- Chloe De La Mare (WR.268): Bringing competitive experience from the FIP Tour circuit.
- Victoria Nicholas (WR.379): Rounding out the squad for the Doha campaign.
Captain Libby Fletcher emphasized the team's readiness, noting that the players have gained significant confidence through consistent participation on the international FIP Tour throughout the year. The team plans to arrive in Qatar early to acclimatize to the environment and maximize their training sessions before facing elite competition.
The tournament will feature 16 nations, including powerhouses like Spain, Argentina, Italy, and Portugal. The format divides teams into four seeded groups, with only the group winners advancing to the semi-finals. Great Britain is guaranteed to face one of the top four seeds in their group stage matches. Fans can follow the action throughout the week, with the schedule running from November 2-5 for group stages, November 5-6 for knockout rounds, and the grand finals taking place on November 7. Live coverage will be available via the official FIP YouTube Channel.
