Smash Padel Junior Success Stories
The tournament served as a significant milestone for Smash Padel, with representatives from their Bicester, Whitstable, Mid Sussex, and Taunton clubs making a major impact on the podium. The following results underscore the depth of talent currently emerging from their programs:
- U12 Girls Title: Fifi, representing Smash Padel Bicester, secured the championship victory in her age category.
- U12 Girls Runners-up: Alice and Hollie from the Smash Padel Whitstable club earned second place in the tournament.
- U14 Girls Title: Rosie and Elizabeth claimed the top spot in the U14 division.
- U16 Girls Final: The duo of Rosie and Elizabeth continued their success by winning the U16 final against their training partners, Heidi and Harriet, who represent Smash Padel Bicester.
- Smash Taunton Milestone: Laurence and Max made history for their club, which only opened in August, by becoming the first pair from the location to compete in a national-level event.
Gordon Dunn, the Head of Academy at Smash Padel, emphasized that these competitive results are just one facet of their broader mission. The organization utilizes a structured coaching program that introduces children as young as four to the sport. While the program provides a pathway for those aiming to represent Great Britain on the international stage, the core philosophy remains focused on fostering a welcoming environment. According to Dunn, the goal is to help every child build confidence, solve problems, and develop a lifelong passion for physical activity, regardless of whether their ultimate ambition is professional competition or simply enjoying a weekly session with friends.
The success in Derby is viewed by the organization as a direct reflection of the commitment shown by their coaching staff, the participating players, and the families who support them. With hundreds of children currently moving through their junior programs, Smash Padel continues to prioritize both high-level athletic development and the social benefits of the sport.
