Players and Contenders to Watch in Bali
Several high-profile athletes are entering the tournament with specific goals, including those chasing a "season double" on Indonesian soil. The following players and pairs are currently the focus of the competition:
- Miguel Melero and Pablo Landáburu: This men's duo is aiming for a second Indonesian title. Melero previously secured a win at the FIP Bronze in Yogyakarta, while Landáburu claimed victory at the FIP Bronze in Jakarta.
- Victoria Kurz: Competing in the women's draw alongside partner Anastasiia Ryzhova, Kurz is looking to repeat her success after winning the FIP Bronze in Banten earlier this July.
- Marcos Gonzalez Blanco and Martin Abud: Entering as the No. 1 seeds, this pair won the FIP Silver in Narbonne, France, this year. Gonzalez Blanco has had a prolific season, also securing FIP Silver titles in Timisoara, Caltanissetta, and Wadi, along with a FIP Bronze win in London.
- Sergio Icardo and Jordi Casanova: This pair arrives in Bali with proven success in the Asian circuit, having already won the FIP Bronze tournament in Samui, Thailand.
- Miguel Gonzalez and Adrian Ronco: A pair identified as one to watch throughout the duration of the tournament.
- Borja Trujillo Chang and Miguel Morales: Another partnership highlighted as a significant contender in the men's draw.
- Virginia Riera and Zahra Kahrizi: Riera, currently ranked No. 35 in the FIP Ranking, is a major headliner. Her 2026 campaign has been highly successful, featuring FIP Silver wins in Manila, Jersey Island, and Dubai, plus FIP Bronze victories in Agrigento and Bahrain. She will be teaming up with Kahrizi for this event.
- Ainize Santamaria and Aitana Garcia: Santamaria enters the tournament with a strong 2026 record, having won FIP Bronze events in Joinville, Dakar, and Budapest. Her partner, Garcia, is currently pursuing her first title of the year.
- Nerea Guerra and Carla Fernandez: This duo is also confirmed as part of the tournament entries to keep an eye on.
The main draw for the Bali Island Sport event kicks off on Friday, August 13. The competition will progress through the weekend, culminating in the semi-finals and finals on Sunday, August 16.
