The Hexagon World Series has officially announced its transition into a global professional team padel circuit for 2027, featuring a four-stop international calendar and a brand-new, high-speed competition format. Governed by the FIP, this expanded series will span three continents, showcasing eight elite teams owned by high-profile figures from the worlds of sports and entertainment.
The 2027 International Calendar
The inaugural international season will visit four distinct regions, culminating in a season finale in the Middle East. The confirmed schedule is as follows:
- Madrid, Spain (January 21–24, 2027): The season kicks off at the Caja Mágica with the GENERALI Hexagon Cup.
- North America (March 2027): The circuit moves to North America, a region with deep ties to the sport's history, to host the second event.
- Scandinavia (June 2027): The third event marks the series' debut in Northern Europe, highlighting the rapid growth of padel in the region.
- Abu Dhabi, UAE (October 21–24, 2027): The season concludes in the UAE capital, where the overall Hexagon World Series champion will be crowned based on points accumulated throughout the year.
While seven teams have been confirmed, the identity of the eighth franchise remains under wraps. The current lineup includes the AD/vantage Padel Team (backed by Andy Murray and Anthony Joshua), KRÜ Padel by Taktika (led by Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero), ElevenEleven Team USA (Eva Longoria), Rafa Nadal Academy Team, Team Bella Puerto Rico (María Esteve and Carlos López-Lay), X Padel (Pierre Gasly and Loïc Féry), and the newly formed Dalma Team, which will represent Abu Dhabi.
Revolutionary Match Format
To enhance the fan experience and increase the pace of play, the series is moving away from traditional scoring systems in favor of a best-of-five Super Tie-Break format. The specific rules for this new structure include:
- Super Tie-Break Scoring: Matches will consist of up to five Super Tie-Breaks. The first four will be played to ten points, while a potential deciding fifth set will be played to six points.
- The Star Point: In the event that a Super Tie-Break reaches a 10-10 deadlock, the Star Point rule will be utilized to determine the winner of that set.
- Team Composition and Weight: Each team will field one men’s pair and one women’s pair. Both matches carry equal sporting weight, and the series maintains its commitment to equal prize money for all athletes.
- Group Stage Structure: At each event, the eight teams will be split into two groups of four. Each head-to-head matchup will feature one men’s match and one women’s match, with results contributing to the official team world rankings.
