Selkirk has officially unveiled its Pro Line 2.0 bag series, a collection developed over two years of intensive research and player feedback. By moving away from standard backpack designs, the brand aims to solve common on-court frustrations through enhanced organization, specialized materials, and a heavy emphasis on magnetic accessibility.
The Pro Line 2.0 Design Philosophy
Led by Head Designer Taylor Hooker, the development process involved extensive surveys and real-world testing to address the specific needs of pickleball players. The resulting bags prioritize convenience, security, and ergonomic comfort. Key features integrated across the new lineup include:
- CourtAccess System: This feature combines a traditional zipper with an auto-aligning magnetic opening. It allows players to keep their bag partially open for easy access between games while maintaining a secure, covered closure.
- MagSlide Ball Dispenser: A specialized storage component that uses magnetic technology to snap shut automatically, ensuring balls are contained but easily reachable.
- Swivel-Fit Straps: Designed to improve comfort, these straps pivot to accommodate various shoulder widths and body types, preventing the rigid, uncomfortable fit often found in standard backpacks.
- Lightweight, Durable Materials: The bags are constructed from 210D double-PU-coated ripstop nylon for the body, paired with a reinforced 600D TPU-coated base to withstand the wear and tear of concrete courts and moisture.
- Strategic Organization: To prevent the "junk drawer" effect, the bags include dedicated magnetic paddle sleeves that protect gritty paddle faces, full-length side access for quick gear retrieval, and high-visibility interiors to make items easier to spot.
The Pro Line 2.0 series consists of three distinct models tailored to different player needs:
- 25L Team Backpack ($248): A streamlined option for daily play that includes two magnetic paddle sleeves, a laptop compartment, and the standard suite of organization features like the MagSlide dispenser and CourtAccess opening.
- 35L Tour Backpack ($298): Designed for tournament players, this model offers increased capacity, four dedicated magnetic paddle sleeves, and specialized shoe storage.
- 45L Duffle ($198): Built for travel and all-day play, this duffle replaces the traditional open-pit design with four internal magnetic paddle sleeves, ventilated shoe storage, and various smaller organization pockets.
By applying industrial design standards typically reserved for high-end travel gear, Selkirk is positioning the Pro Line 2.0 as a necessary upgrade for players who treat their pickleball equipment with the same level of sophistication as their paddles and footwear.
